Sheikh Al-Hajouri Backs Tribal Mobilization in Al-Jawf for Woman's Release
Sheikh Yahya bin Ali Al-Hajouri, a prominent Salafist scholar, has endorsed the tribal gatherings in Al-Jawf province, asserting that their mobilization to support a woman seeking aid aligns with Islamic legal principles. He described the action as a fulfillment of the religious obligation to assist the oppressed.
Al-Hajouri's statements, made in an audio recording, addressed the influx of tribal delegations from various Yemeni governorates. These groups responded to a call by tribal leader Hamad bin Rashid bin Fadgham Al-Hazmi, a notable figure among the Daham tribes, to advocate for a woman identifying herself as "Meera Saddam Hussein." The woman is reportedly held by Houthi forces, with the tribal mobilization aimed at securing her release and the return of her property in Sana'a.
The Sheikh emphasized that the tribes converging in Al-Jawf are united by a principle that does not contradict religious evidence. He noted that the woman had sought their protection and requested their support, characterizing her as an oppressed individual who appealed to the honorable and generous tribes of Daham and others.
Citing the Prophet Muhammad's saying, "Support your brother, whether he is an oppressor or is oppressed," Al-Hajouri explained that aiding the wronged is a religious duty, irrespective of their lineage or affiliation.
Al-Hajouri reiterated that the tribal assembly in Al-Jawf is intended to support a woman they deem to be oppressed, adding that "supporting the oppressed is a duty, and this, by God, is honor and dignity for them before God and before righteous servants."
For ten consecutive days, Yemeni tribes have continued to arrive at the Al-Rayyan gathering site in Al-Jawf Governorate, answering the call of tribal leader Hamad bin Fadgham Al-Hazmi. This ongoing mobilization occurs amidst the failure of mediation efforts and the persistent intransigence of the Houthi militia, which has refused to comply with the demands for the release of "Meera Saddam Hussein" and her transfer to the Al-Karama gathering. The situation portends a significant tribal escalation in the coming days.
