Six Killed or Injured in Tribal Clashes in Amran's Raydah District

Two individuals were killed and four others sustained injuries on Tuesday following armed clashes that erupted in the Aqabat area of Raydah District, north of Amran Governorate, which is under Houthi militia control. The conflict reportedly stemmed from a dispute over an agricultural irrigation project.

Local sources indicated that the disagreement between parties from the region escalated over a farming irrigation project before devolving into an armed confrontation. The incident resulted in the death of one person from the Al-Faqih family and another from the Al-Kalbi family. Four others suffered varying degrees of injuries and were transferred to health facilities for treatment.

The incident has reportedly heightened tensions and prompted a state of alert in the area, with tribal mediation efforts underway to de-escalate the situation and prevent further escalation of hostilities.

This event has brought to the forefront recurring conflicts related to irrigation water and agricultural land in several parts of the governorate, highlighting a lack of effective legal remedies.

Areas under the control of the Houthi militia are experiencing a notable security deterioration, with an increase in killings and armed disputes. This is occurring amidst weak judicial institutions, leading disputing parties to resort to arms rather than legal channels.
