Iranian Expert, Houthi Leaders Killed in Red Sea Island Strike

An Iranian expert specializing in military communications and several Houthi leaders were reportedly killed in an airstrike targeting a militia operations center on Kamaran Island in the Red Sea. The strike also destroyed an operations room and missile launch platforms.

According to confidential military sources speaking to "Khabar" news agency, the Iranian expert was transferred to Kamaran Island earlier this month, accompanied by members of the Somali Youth movement, to participate in military and naval activities for the militia. The sources indicated that the targeted individuals included two Houthi leaders affiliated with the militia's so-called "Air Force."

The strike reportedly hit a command and control facility on the island, which is utilized to coordinate the Houthi militia's naval and military operations. This comes amid continued efforts by the militia to bolster its positions and offensive capabilities in the Red Sea. Intelligence platform "Sheba Intelligence," citing military sources, had previously reported that the raid resulted in the death and injury of several Iranian and Iraqi military experts, with some injured individuals being transferred to hospitals in Hodeidah city. This casualty count could not be independently verified.

Kamaran Island is considered a vital location within the Houthi militia's naval operations network. It houses command centers, drone operation sites, and facilities to support explosive boat operations and other naval activities. Reports suggest foreign experts are involved in managing some of these operations.

The strike occurs at a time of escalating warnings regarding the Houthi militia's ongoing preparations for new naval attacks in the Red Sea, despite continuous military operations targeting their capabilities and positions across various regions of Yemen.
