Nine Civilians Injured in Houthi Sniper and Artillery Attacks in Taiz

Nine civilians, including two women and several children, sustained injuries on Sunday following a series of sniper attacks and artillery shelling carried out by Houthi forces across multiple districts in Taiz governorate.

Human rights sources confirmed that the attacks targeted residential areas in Sabir Al-Mawadim, Mashra'a wa Hadnan, Al-Aqroud, and the Old Airport district. The victims, who suffered varying degrees of injury, were targeted while conducting daily activities, marking a continuation of the hostilities that have long plagued the civilian population in the region.

Among those wounded were 17-year-old Bakeel Munir Abdullah, who suffered a gunshot wound to the shoulder, and 16-year-old Raghad Ahmed Mohammed, who was struck in the collarbone. Other victims included 12-year-old Mohammed Abdulbari Saeed, 6-year-old Hilal Abdulmajeed Qasim, and 16-year-old Aseel Maath Abdullah, all of whom were caught in sniper fire or hit by shrapnel from projectile attacks.

The violence also claimed two adult women, Safiya Abdo Saeed and Samira Ahmed Mahyoub, who sustained shrapnel wounds after a Houthi sniper targeted a civilian vehicle in the village of Al-Najada. Additional casualties included 46-year-old Adeeb Hazzah Ahmed and 46-year-old Bandar Ali Abdullah, both of whom suffered head injuries from shrapnel in separate incidents.

These targeted assaults against residential neighborhoods, public roads, and civilian vehicles underscore the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Taiz. Local observers note that the persistent nature of these attacks continues to exacerbate the suffering of the local population, placing non-combatants, particularly women and children, in constant peril.
