Yemen Closes All Airports Indefinitely Following Airstrikes
The Yemen Civil Aviation and Meteorology Authority has announced the closure of all airports across the Republic of Yemen to air traffic until further notice. The decision was issued from the interim capital, Aden, on Monday.
A circular from the authority, numbered 01-2026 and addressed to all airlines and international organizations operating flights to and from Yemeni airports, stated that all airports are closed to air traffic until further notice, with immediate effect.
This closure follows airstrikes reportedly carried out by the Yemeni government's Ministry of Defense on Sana'a International Airport. The Ministry of Defense stated that the strikes were conducted to prevent the landing of an Iranian aircraft. However, the Iranian plane reportedly diverted its course and landed at Hodeidah Airport.
The Ministry of Defense had previously called for the evacuation of Sana'a Airport and issued warnings regarding the continued flight of the Iranian aircraft. The Minister of Defense had affirmed that the Yemeni Armed Forces would confront any hostile aerial violations with all available means.
